As the overwhelming release of the Nintendo Wii edges closer and closer, more and more facts and figures are being unveiled about the console. The most recent collection of points has been collected and discussed over at Cubed3. Something that really struck me about the points raised was this

Laurent Fischer doesn’t expect the whole of society to immediately jump onto the Wii train, but this will gradually come with advertising, word of mouth etc.

I find this an incredibly interesting point to make as I remember from when the DS was first unveiled. It seemed like such a ‘far out’ there idea that would never catch on… now look at its success and it is selling like hot cakes in Japan as well as America and in Europe is outdoing PSP sales 3:1. Whereas I must admit, when I first heard about its touch screen I dismissed it as a gimmick and instead decided to wait for the follow up to Game Boy Advance. This dosn’t seem like its going to happen now but I can totally understand this point and believe the same thing will happen with the Wii.
