DS Web Browser = “meh”
Posted by Kerri on November 15th, 2006
I purchased the DS Lite web browser yesterday and must admit, its not very good.
Well, its actually okay. It does what it says on the tin but apart from that its a bit of a jobsworth. I couldn’t even login to wordpress to post this so that kinda shows you what I mean. It does a good job of displaying web pages though with its small screen although I wouldn’t recommend it for heavy reading as it gets quite tiring moving the view back and forth just to read every line of text. I can see the advantage of being able to use it when your on the go, as I did buy it just to check my emails and maybe write a post for the blog. However I discovered that you can’t actually use those “free wifi connections” in places such as McDonald’s or borders due to the fact that as soon as you try to access a site it makes you login to BT or other service provider. Basically you have to pay about £6 for 60 minutes worth of Internet time.

So unless your willing to fork out money every time you want to browse the Internet I wouldn’t recommend getting this as the only other place you could be with a Wifi connection that you don’t have to pay for would be your home or someone elses, and i’m imagining that they have a computer with a much more supported browser installed.
