The 7th Generation is here (sort of)

So there you have it, all 3 next gen consoles (from the important hardware designers) are at last unleashed upon the world (in some territories). I must say it only feels like yesterday I got given the PS2 for an early birthday present - back then I got a lot less excited about the release of a new console than now. Me and Craig were talking about it and Craig pointed out the the PS2 kind of just ‘appeared’, back then it didn’t get on the news headlines about how a new console was released. Things have changed in the gaming industry a lot, gaming seems to be appealing to a lot more people now as technology evolves, thanks to things like the Eyetoy and dance/karaoke/guitar games as well as the Buzz party games - its a lot easier to interact with video games now and this has made gaming more enjoyable and less ‘geeky’ as a medium to the non-gamer. I don’t mean to sound biased to Nintendo but, they can obviously see this potential market which, in my opinion, Sony started to create this generation with these games just mentioned. But its weird how Sony seem to now be aiming more towards the hardcore gamer and forgetting about this market for casual and non-gamers that they helped create - what with the ps3 being super expensive and having tank like technical specs.
Anyway, I digress. The 7th Generation is finally upon us (sort of) and so I thought i’d check out Nexgenwars.com where somehow, they’ve managed to get sales data for the ps3 and wii already (wii is currently winning on hype but 360 sales are way ahead). It’ll be interesting to see how this changes when the wii and ps3 are released to the majority of the world. As well as how Christmas sales will affect the 360.
And if you haven’t already, I suggest you head over to Kotaku for their huge amount of youtube’d coverage of the Wii and PS3 systems as well as game-play videos.
