After getting the brand new Tenacious D album called “The Pick of Destiny” (yes, also the OST for the upcoming film!) I have to say that it’s just as good as their first album if not better! With Dave Grohl appearing on the album as, once again, the voice of the devil and also Meatloaf making an appearance as Jack Blacks dad it has all the comedy of the first one with the added delight of a storyline!

The opening track (Kickapoo) tells of how Jack looks to his idols Dio for a way to get away from his father to chase his “destiny” of forming the most awesome band of all time. After that it goes on to when JB first Meets Kyle Gass with a little skit track known as Classico.

The third track shows the softer side of the band, but they still manage to get the comedy into the song!

Other great song include “The Government Totally Sucks”, “Master Exploder”, “Dude (I Totally Miss You)”, “Pick Of Destiny” and “Beelzeboss” in which Jack and Kyle challenge the devil (Grohl) to a rock off where if they win the devil must return to hell…..and pay their rent; but if they lose then Kyle must go back to hell with the devil and become his little bitch. The devil then plays an amazing solo to which kyle doesn’t believe they can match. Jack manages to persuade him that they can beat him by reminding him that he will become the devils bitch if they lose with the classic line: “He’s Gonna Make You His Sex Slave! You’re Gonna Gargle Mayonaise!”

This truely is a great album, the only negative i can find with it is its length. At only 33 minutes long (or short I should say) it just isnt long enough! It really leaves you wanting more! I’d give it 8.5/10. If it was about 15 minutes longer then it would definitely get the full 10/10
