It’s always funny to see what the games released at budget price are like. The majority of budget games are priced that way for a reason, i.e. games with little in the way of storyline such as Brain Training and Cooking Mama. General purpose software is also usually released at a lower RRP such as Dance ejay due to their lack in entertainment but a stronger focus on doing a job such as the design of film, music and art.

The real surprises then are when what seems like a ‘proper’ game is sold at a lower price. You can instantly tell that something is fishy about the product, be it due to a low budget for design or just low sales expectations. Generally, licensed games are priced this way also. As was the case with awful Mario Kart ripoff ‘Crazy Frog Racer‘ which launched for £20 (god knows how this warranted an even cheaper sequel!) as well as games like Who Wants to be a Millionaire and recent movie tie ins Happy Feet and Flushed Away.

Screens for the new TV show tie-in ‘Little Britain’ game have been unveiled recently and from the looks of things, this seems to be an awful waste of time. I’m usually not so fussed about graphics these days, but seriously… this could have been done on the original Playstation. You’d think that such a huge show with such a large fan-base would be able to finance something a bit more in depth than this, both graphics and game play wise. The game seems to be a mini-game fest taking on the sketch setting of the TV program. With only a few repetitive characters in the show, this can only become a pretty simple game with boring and old games that have been done to death by dieing franchise Mario Party and other party games. I can understand this game will probably sell a lot due to its budget price and large fan base, however, you can actually buy the complete series on DVD for less than you could this game, and I have a feeling the later would be a tad more entertaining, the show is quite funny in places.

Surely it would have made more sense releasing this before Christmas? at least that’s what these guys did right, however shady their history…
