According to Eurogamer - The upcoming behemoth of a console ‘PLAYSTATION 3′ will launch in Ireland for €629.99 and €529.99 for the 60GB and 20GB versions respectively. Considering at e3 it was announced the price would be €599 / €499, this is a bit of a shame. It has also been somewhat unexpected after their lack of sales in comparison to Nintendo’s Wii this holiday season in America. This paired with the lack of PSP sales in Europe compared to the DS - you’d think that Sony would try their best to sell these things, especially after the 3 month delay us Europeans have had to cope with.

‘Treat em’ mean, keep em’ keen’ so the phrase goes.

UPDATE: Aparantly, the word is that this price increase only affects Ireland due to its higher tax rates. The PS3 will be out in Europe at the end of march for the following prices. Ireland - €629 (60GB), Europe - €499 (20GB) / €599 (60GB), UK - £425 (60GB). Source- Three Speech
