Objection! Pheonix Wright IS a great game
Posted by Kerri on January 22nd, 2007
Wow, I never expected it to be this good. Over the weekend I had a chance to play the first 2 cases of the game ‘Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney’ - after receiving GAMEs ‘Best Portable Game of 2006‘ I thought I had better check it out, so I did.
It seems i’m always late to catch on to the popular games out there, but if you’ve never heard off this game - here’s the deal. You follow the life of a a lawyer named Pheonix Wright (his real name is Nick :P) and the cases he defends in. The game is primarily a text based adventure game with added functionality thanks to the unique hardware of the DS. You have to find clues and evidence to help you solve the cases you are involved in.
Originally, the game was released in Japan for the Gameboy Advance (as well as its 2 sequels) and has been translated into English by Capcom for the Nintendo DS. The second entry is planned to be released in Europe in the first quarter of 2007. Lets hope they also plan to release the third entry.

See Im not sure if I would get in to it that much. I dont know if Id really be caught by the text based game.
Maybe if I have a few quid laying round I might pick it up on the cheap.
Also “with added functionality thanks to the unique hardware of the DS” what does that mean exactly?

Oh, yeah, should have mentioned that.
You can interact by shouting out commands in court via the microphone. Also, you can use the stylus to examine evidence in rooms and move around objects etc.
(seeing as its a remake of a GBA game though, you can play it using only the controls though if you can’t be bothered with the stylus :P)

I have this game and I am enjoying it to.
Sometimes it’s very linear but it’s still good fun. I can’t wait to find out how each case resolves hehe
I didn’t know you could shout commands at it - will try it next time.
I have ordered a copy of Hotel Dusk … have you heard or that?
