Scarface to Wii - Say Hello to my motion-sensing friend!
Posted by Kerri on March 3rd, 2007
Going in the same direction as the soon to be released ‘Godfather’ video game. The frankly more exciting of the two film conversions ‘Scarface’ is also being ported to the Wii in the coming months.
“You walk, drive, navigate and pilot boats using the nunchuck, and then you shoot pointing at the screen with the Wiimote”
And for added realism, Vivendi have added a motion-sensing swearing system
“You can gesticulate as well. On the PS2 and Xbox versions you can swear and swear and swear to increase your kill factor. Well, on the Wii you’ll do it through gestures, so the angrier you get at the screen, the higher you’ll push Tony’s kill factor.”
Sounds like fun, although I’ve no idea how this and the Godfather will sell in the marketplace. Wii’s audience at the moment only really exists of casual gamers. Will they buy into this franchise which is purely based on violence and drugs when they can get the kicks from the super colorful worlds of Wii Sports?

Im much more looking forward to this over Godfather. This is more to do with the game looking a bit poor then anything else though.

Seriously:

That’s both awesome and horrifying at the same time. I can’t help but feel that the Wii port will be a car crash of shaky pointing and needless gesticulations. Also ‘Kill Factor’ sounds like a thrash band

I was always planning on trying out Scarface for the PS2 but never got round to it because the Wii came out. I might try this out but as you mention NeilH, it could end up a complete shambles if not done properly.
The Boy: I’m glad you picked up on that, I’m not so sure the Godfather really needed a game made for it. But then I suppose I liked Scarfaces ending too so it seems odd they wanted to carry it on, especially as a video game.
