We reported before when the Wii was launched that Nintendo had stated that you would soon be able to purchase points for the Wii Shop with stars obtained via buying Nintendo products and registering them.

Today, the points have shown up on the store itself ready for purchase. However, upon purchasing of the points nothing is changed with your Wii shop account at all. The entry in the catalogue seems to be an error of sorts due to its lack of description though, perhaps an error on Nintendo’s part?

Stick with 8bit Hero and check back later when hopefully we will have a better idea of what is going on.

Nintendo Europe Stars Catalogue

UPDATE: Nintendo have now removed the item in the catalogue. I haven’t received any points on the Wii shop channel or refunded into my stars balance. Let us just hope Nintendo makes a statement about it soon.
