Today seems to be a day for answering questions with inevitable answers. Yes there will be a new version of the Xbox 360 and yes, Mario and Sonic will both be in a game together one day. Long gone are the days when it was taboo to even think that the jacked up hedgehog and the plumber on mushrooms would ever be good friends. Its been made official today (quite out of the blue, unlike the worst kept secret from Microsoft) that they two will be featuring in a game regarding the upcoming 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Not much is known about the title at the moment but atleast we can sleep tonight, safe in the knowledge that it is definitely going to happen - just follow the link for the proof.

UPDATE: It seems that Nintendo and Sega have released more info. about the game. In a press release they state that the obvious characters from the two franchises will compete in obvious games such as running, swimming and the not so obvious table tennis. Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Sonic, Tails and Knuckles will all compete using the unique controls of both the DS and the Wii later this year when the game is released in time for the holidays. The next ‘not if but when’ question I have to ask is regarding Sonic and Super Smash Brothers. You just know it’s going to happen.
