Whoever said Pokemon was dead as a franchise? 10 years on and it seems the franchise is still going strong all over the place.

According to Infendo pre-orders on the latest games (Diamond and Pearl) for the DS are sky-high. However, they can’t be that great if Nintendo only compared them to the preorder rate of a remake of the original titles. Surely pre-orders for the second wave of titles (Gold and Silver) were the peak of sales? We can tell that Nintendo still have a powerful franchise but I think it certainly isn’t as big as in the late nineties.

I am being a bit cynical however, I’m fairly sure that no Nintendo franchise can ever be killed off. (I’ll admit I’ve pre-ordered the game on import, oh sweet sweet imports)
