Its a great game and there is loads of stuff I haven't unlocked yet - can't wait! If you like RPGs i'd recommend it. But as you say, random battles can get annoying. So far you can get by from just leveling up against other people though. I'd recommend it however, it really is good fun. The online trade function is pretty funny too. I traded a pokemon with some guy from michigan who I've never met before. Its fun :) Luckily you can get it from cd-wow for £20 with postage which is sweet. I have Super Paper Mario to finish off first. Then it's all about Pokemon. I'm amazed by the amount of people excited by this title! It seems like anyone who played the first pokemon when they were younger is coming back into the Pokemon fold for this one!
