Call of Duty 4 Breaks Hearts, takes names

Am I the only one that’s truly disappointed about the first trailer for the new entry in the Call of Duty series? The best part about the games so far is the setting they recreate as well as the atmosphere that fills them. With the newest entry they have gone and changed their staple and are setting it in a ‘modern-day warfare’ environment.
I know we’re a bit late posting this but seriously. I’m really disappointed in this. I don’t understand where or when this game is set. Clearly games like Battlefield 2 don’t have to set themselves in a specific time period because that’s not what the series is about. Call of Duty has always been so strong a title because of its historical context. This new title is completely changing everything that the series stands for and I think it’s a bad move. Clearly they were going to run out of steam eventually (there are only so many situations they could potentially recreate) but I don’t think they should have carried on the name of the series with such a different type of game.

it may make a pleasant change. I just hope they don’t change the core gameplay. I was getting bored of ww2

True - WW2 is a little drawn out in the gaming space. I still feel that Activision have just gone and ruined what the whole title meant however.
