LucasArts show off Fracture

The brand new game from LucasArts that everyone is talking about right now is Fracture. LucasArts are now working on what seems to be somewhat of a technical successor to Red Faction.
You control Mason Briggs who uses all sorts of explosives and weaponry to deform the landscape in any way possible. Briggs uses weaponry to protect himself by blowing up his surroundings to prevent him from receiving enemy fire as well as using weaponry to access places which were usually impenetrable. With what looks to be an amazing physics and graphical capability the game looks amazing graphically (what out for those grenades!).
Peter Hirschmann the vice president of Product Development at the company said that “Day 1 Studios has done a phenomenal job of creating true next-gen tech that not only dazzles on a visual level but also serves as a core game play mechanic. Unlike many other next-gen games on the market, Fracture simply isn’t possible in the previous generation of consoles”. The game Red Faction originally set out to create a game system which was just like this but in practice - everything felt very much precoded and just didn’t seem dynamic. Lets just hope that Fracture pulls the independent physics engine off the right way! The games set for release in 2008 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox360.
