Tomb Raider Anniversary to see the Wii
Posted by Kerri on May 15th, 2007
Unlike many customers for the console, Lara Croft is to get access of the highly regarded system later this year.
The upcoming remake of the first Tomb Raider title is to be released for PS2, PSP, PC and now the Wii. Although it is clearly quite easy to port games to the Wii, Eidos’ president Bill Gardner promises us this isn’t just a straight out port.
I’ve seen the proposal on the Wii version of Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary and I believe there is enough differentiation between what we’re doing now and what we’re planning on with the Wii version. There is enough unique gameplay with the controls that this is going to be a really fun experience for people. And I think we’re going out of our way to make a unique version for the Wii. It’s not a port. It’s a unique version.
Mr. Gardner goes on to say that the game will possibly include a lot of Wii specific content, such as new levels and functions but doesn’t confirm anything other than the game is coming some point later this year. He also says that the reason Eidos havn’t shown up on the Wii so far is due to the late dispatch date of developer kits and they have only just got round to thinking about making a game for the console.
Tomb Raider Anniversary is in shops June the 1st for PC, PS2 and PSP.

Ive not played Lara Croft since I got a copy of Tomb Raider 3 on the PC thanks to some dodgy disks that my step dad picked up, which also contained about 7 other games.
But I think I might have a look in to this game. It could be fun.

It’s built using the “Tomb Raider: Legend” game engine, which from experience I can say really has breathed new life into the series. Having said that anyone who has played that game knows what to expect, personally I’m looking forward to it.
