Sony: Contradictions Galore
Posted by Kerri on June 29th, 2007
Today sees the release of a new PS2 pack here in Europe. The console comes in bright pink with two extra pink controllers and a pink memory card - its pink galore!
What bothers me the most about this is Sonys constantly changing marketing plans. One moment you believe they really do care about the fairer sex and then boom, they drop these sexist bombs on consumers in India. (You really do have to click those links, truly disastrous stuff)
What the hell has happened to Sony in the past couple of years? They have gone from the biggest and most respected games company in the world to a sexist, walking contradiction trying to sell the world a massive overpriced blu-ray player which happens to play games.
Sure, Sony have some wicked games out there (I’m currently playing Shadow of Colossus, absolutely beautiful) and have some great consoles as well. It just annoys me when they can’t make up their mind marketing wise.
You can buy the Pink PS2 with Singstar Pop Hits over at GAME.co.uk

Sony provides me with endless entertainment on a regular basis. Not because I own any of their consoles, but because their marketing is so comical. Usually a poor attempt at replicating other companies’ successful products.
I saw those ads from India a while back and thought it was a hoax. Crazy stuff.
