Nintendo announced today the European release date for the upcoming Wii game ‘Mario Party 8′. If you’ve not played the game before it’s basically a board game but in an interactive plumber flavor. You play with up to three other players as you roll dice to journey round the board, playing mini games and aiming to collect as many stars as possible to defeat your opponents.

Perhaps the game will appeal to the more casual gamers that Nintendo are aiming towards with its simple and easy to pick up manner. The series has been going for nearly ten years and clearly shows no sign of stopping following the eighth installment being released later this year.

The game is in stores on the 22nd of June 2007 (perhaps a leaving present for Mr. Blair?) for the retail price of £35/€50.

Hit the jump for the PR.

All the old favorites including Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi are back in this latest Mario Party installment, along with a couple of new faces, such as Blooper and Hammer Bro, who previously appeared for the first time in the original Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Players must move around the board by throwing a dice and at the end of each turn they are faced with a humorous yet challenging mini-game. This really is the perfect game to play against friends and family thanks to the multi player mode which allows you and your friends to team up against each other in both two versus two and one against all challenges.

The newest installment in the Mario Party series sees the latest developments in technology combined with a classic gaming formula and is set to become the best in the series yet! Mario Party 8 parties its way into stores across Europe on 22nd June 2007 at an estimated price of around £35 / €50.
