Naruto European Edition?

Posted by Kerry on November 13th, 2006

The latest post on the Nintendo Europe site describes perhaps one of the last GameCube games ever to be released; Naruto: Clash on Ninja European Edition.boxart_jp_naruto-gekitou-ninja-taisen-4.jpgI’m not the biggest fan of anime but I used to be quite into it and I still watch Naruto on occasions whenever I can get hold of it on YouTube (for those in the know, I’m waiting for them to stop that goddamn filler :P ). I do however own one of the Naruto games which Heather got me for my birthday a few months ago, Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 (did you know Japanese GameCube cases are much smaller than our DVD cased versions). Its a great game and I highly recommend it for any fighting game fans, even if your not a fan of the anime. I’ve been looking at online UK shops ever since Naruto started being shown on TV here, on the lookout for one of these games in English being released in England. It didn’t look like it was going to happen however what with the Wii release round the corner and even Nintendo turning there final Cube games into Wii versions (Twilight Princess and Super Paper Mario).

bsnjxf7ljrbolke3tro_s9mdufuwpgri.jpgHowever, the game is now being released under the guise of ‘Naruto Clash of Ninja European Edition’. The game is constantly referred to with this suffix of ‘European Edition’ in the press release on their site, I can’t help feeling that there is something different with this game that just a straight conversion into English. However by looking at the screen shots you can see on the Nintendo page, they are easily comparable with the shots from ‘Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2′ which was recently released in America (a translation of Gekitou Ninja Taisen 2) as well as the inclusion of the 4 player bout which was not present in the first title. So instead of releasing both games in Europe, they are simply releasing the 2nd edition to the series but renaming it so that people who are unaware won’t question where part 1 is.

I’ll probably pick this game up when it actually is released in England, any of you interested in it?

Off topic, but I seen my first Wii advert yesterday. And I dont mean one on youtube, on actual TV. During CSI. It had controller and a womans voice saying “Whats this?” then it zoomed in on the controller and said “Wii play.”
Damn it! Im finding increasingly more difficult to not get excited about this console, especially after every single report on zelda I’ve read people have said “playing zelda on the wii will make it difficult to play it any other way again.”

[...] As its a bit of a slow news day/s at the moment, I thought I’d take the chance to tell you all about the new Naruto game which has popped up in the last few days. I’ve wrote about Naruto games before (which should be available in stores now according to Nintendo). This new game seems to take place over the time-line shift which happened in the manga about 1-2 years ago. Because the anime of Naruto is following the story of the manga, the two mediums became too close together as, i assume, it takes longer to create and pad out a story using manga than anime. So what happened was, the creators of the anime have passed the time by creating their own extra stories which wern’t featured in the manga, and now they have decided that it is time to get back on track with the official story written by the creator Masashi Kishimoto.
