New Wii Remote straps arrive

My requested free remote strap replacements came today. Clearly Nintendo are trying to cover themselves from being taken to court over broken straps. They are spending a little money and effort offering a service which will prevent damage for both them and their customers. It’s a shame they couldn’t have tested their product properly in the first place though.

I have two remotes, one of which (from the console box) contained the old strap, the other had a newer one. I actually have tested both pretty strongly with friends and Wii sports/play over the holiday period and must say that I found no problems with either strap, they both seemed pretty durable actually. I assume you really have to put some effort into it to really break them.

Still, congrats to Nintendo for having such a good PR department, all I had to do was send my address and amount of straps needed and it arrived within the week.

If your interested in ordering some replacement straps for your wii remote then email Nintendo of Europe’s PR guys ‘Codestorm’ at wiiwriststrap@codestorm.co.uk with your address and amount of required straps.

I have to hold my hand up here and disagree with all people who have any complaints about the straps.
I feel Nintendo werent covering their backs, as this would mean they had done something wrong.
Nintendo just decided that simply making a bit of string a tiny bit bigger would make a big difference and keep people schtum.
Its nice that they are offering to hand out free straps to anyone that asks, but Ill stick with my original, at least until they snap – or until pigs grow wings, which ever comes quickest, and I expect it will be flying pigs racing very far ahead.

I just can’t help feeling that Nintendo are quite money-hungry at the moment, what with the extreme prices of Wii games as well as VC points. It makes me think that they really are trying to prevent legal action.

Also, promise, Ill have my Wii sorted out ASAP. There was a slight hitch with a new wifi router/passphrase.
But once that is sorted out Ill make sure to send you some messages and many more Miis in MiiParade.

Mine arrived. Installed fine. Although there’s not all that much difference IMHO.
