Q&A with RedOctane Co-Founder Charles Huang
Posted by Kerry on August 14th, 2007
Even with rivalry from previous business partners Harmonix, RedOctane and Activision are still hard at work on their now-gen iteration of Guitar Hero. With an already established fan base crying out for part three, RedOctane co-founder Charles Huang has gone on record to discuss some of the problems and developments the team have overcome in the development of the game so far.
‘Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock’ is still on track for Christmas time in the West, with an Australian release being delayed a little to early next year. Huang puts this down to the cost and difficulty in hardware manufacturing, especially with the difficulty of the many different types of wireless signals and standards by all four consoles the game is being developed for.
The much rumored DS version of the series is still in development, with talks at Nintendo occurring regularly. It shouldn’t be too long before we start to hear more about how and when the series will be placed firmly between our hands.
Also of discussion in the session is the customization of the new guitars controllers, plans for a wooden version and the challenge of getting Microsoft to approve their plans for wireless peripherals for the 360.
