On May 12th, Square-Enix will be holding their annual party at Makuhari Messe near Tokyo in Japan. The event itself is a great opportunity to show off the massive amount of titles coming out from the company this year and the next. So far a lot of games have been announced by Square for the next two years and it’s pretty likely more will be debuted at the event itself.
In the last two days, a couple of games have been announced by Square, the first of which is titled ‘The Last Remnant‘ for the 360 and PS3. The game seems to be an action based role playing game much like the spin off Final Fantasy XIII Versus. Square were keen to stress that the game itself will contain two heroes, each of which is targeted specifically at a target market (both gamers in the West and in the East). What is interesting about this title is that it is the first Square game to make use of the Unreal Engine which they licensed earlier on this year. This is great news for graphic fans as the engine itself is capable of creating true next generation graphics on the fly.
The second game that has been announced is ‘Final Fantasy Dissidia’ for the PSP. Not much is known about the game right now except for the name and its logo which seems to feature artwork of Shiva and Ifrit by revered Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano.
Will Square announce more games as we get closer to the event? We’ll let you know as soon as it happens.
