The Sims new(stolen) art style

Posted by Kerry on November 23rd, 2006

simskid.jpgWhen I first saw these shots of the new Sims game for Wii, I thought it couldn’t be true, even Heather (a huge Sims fan) agreed it was a hoax. But today these scans from Japanese otaku mag Famitsu confirms this new art style EA have taken for the new Wii iteration of the Sims. Taking the series into a new direction including tree growing, the new game is quite obviously influenced by the HUGE success of Animal Crossing and its Sims like game-play. I wouldn’t be surprised if the game included fossil digging, fishing and bug catching.

Due out in 2007, the game also seems to have its own Mii type character system which allows you to create a caricature of yourself much like previous sims game.

I just wonder if EA will carry on this style for future releases of the game on other systems or whether its purely meant to attract the Wii gamer, it certainly does seem like a great direction to go in if they carry it on.

Im not a huge fan of the Sims games. I’ve never really played them. But I really like thiese graphics. And if it is Animal Crossing version 2 then I might end up buying it.
