Xbox 360 Elite SKU spotted in the wild

As if Microsoft were going to let rumors of a new Xbox bother them – they went and made one anyway. Its funny how this ‘Elite’ version of the original Xbox hasn’t even been announced officially yet but this picture clearly shows several of the new consoles ready for packaging. They actually look pretty ugly in my opinion but its not all just about looks right? Microsoft most probably learned that lesson from last year’s runaway success – Wii Sports. However, the updated SKU is said to contain a 120GB hard drive (for all of that downloadable content they wish to ram down our throats I assume) and an updated HD output (My TV doesn’t even support the old one let alone this new type – it’s mad!)
Can Microsoft really keep their updated Xbox under tight surveillance much longer? If anything they should announce it as soon as possible if they long to rouse the hype surrounding the PS3’s launch last week. As always since the rumors first started, the question is not if, but when.
UPDATE: Just after I ran this story yesterday, Microsoft announced the new edition – follow the link for some PR loving

Whats the deal with the PS3 breaking records? With the amount of shops that were still selling PS3′s the day after release I thought that no one was buying them. It appears that maybe Sony made enough to go round.
Unless Sony are doing the old trick of releasing numbers of PS3′s shipped and not PS3′s sold.

I believe whats happening is that Sony have actually made enough to go around for once. However I do believe its a mixture of both. There are a lot to go around but not everyone actually needs one or wants one.
